UNARMED COMBAT

The unarmed combat of ninjutsu, called "Taihonjutsu", has a lot of differences to today's other martial arts systems.
Centuries have proven that techniques, which work for one, won't always work for another; therefore techniques develop continously to suit each individualís physique.
The basis for ninjutsu lies in the elements of nature: Wind, Water, Earth, Fire and Wood (Void).
Each of these elements provides a multitude of techniques for each different striking tool or weapon.
For example:

aa1. Water element :- a) Ichimonji no kamae b) Doko no kamae - Techniques in this element move backward then forward in a zig-zag formation.

aa2. Wind element :- a) Hira Ichimonji no kamae b) Hoko no kamae - Techniques in this element moves forward, sideways and into sircular motions either to the left or right.

aa3. Earth element :- a) Hicho no kamae b) seiza no kamae "sitting posture" c) Fudoza no kamae "sitting posture" d) bobi no kamae - Techniques in this element requires not moving in any direction but keeping a stationary form, with only body ajustments to compliment the defence manouvres.

aa4. Fire element :- a) Kosei no kamae b) jumonji no kamae c) Seigan no kamae - techniques in this elements require a very aggressive and intentive attacking the attack approach , motion of movement is forward and dominant.

aa5. Void element :- Using all of above in combinations - method of thought is serreal, not thinking just reacting.

Each of these elements could be applied with various deflecting techniques or blocking structures, which if combined with striking techniques "atemi" - (striking to vital points) already provides one with a multitude of different various defensive techniques.
